Creative media students have access to iMac suites, a dedicated green-screen film/photography studio as well as audio production facilities to produce their work. Students will work collaboratively on projects and learn about progression routes to employment opportunities in the creative industries. In the autumn term students under 19 years old can apply for selection to the BFI Film Academy to work with industry professionals from film and animation on a commissioned project. All students are encouraged to take up work experience with appropriate local employers. Over the two years you will develop skills across a variety of media including 3D modelling and animation, game level design, concept art, story writing, audio, and product promotion. You will develop your own unique voice as a content creator, and promote audience interaction for brands and YouTubers in a wide variety of industries. If you are wishing to pursue a career specialising in digital design, this route enables students to learn about designing and creating a range of content for media channels by developing skills in graphic design, video production and image-making. You will develop an understanding of how to engage audiences, visualise ideas and plan storyboards and scripts, produce moving image productions for a range of purposes such as storytelling, immersive experiences, live broadcast, as well as marketing and promotion. This course is for imaginative students who aspire to a career within the creative industries specialising in film, animation and special effects. You will be willing to learn a variety of digital and traditional techniques and to engage in creative briefs, working both individually and in a team. You will also learn more about marketing in the games industry.Īs the games industry is constantly evolving, we are looking for students who are passionate about games and game art, with a keen desire to develop fresh and unique ideas. You will learn how to visualise ideas, create 3D models and design games as well as exploring key techniques for developing characters, environments and objects which underpin every game concept.
